Preserve the idea you already worked out
A reference image gives the model more structure than a blank prompt and makes the result easier to compare with your original intent.
Sketch to floor plan AI
Upload a hand sketch, scan, or old plan. Tell the AI what to preserve, then use Canvas to correct the lines that matter.
Why this workflow works
A reference image gives the model more structure than a blank prompt and makes the result easier to compare with your original intent.
Use the AI pass to create a more legible draft while keeping the original sketch available as a visual reference.
Image conversion is never perfect. Draw corrected wall segments directly over the result rather than regenerating the entire plan.
How it works
Keep the workflow simple: provide intent, review the AI draft, then make the changes that matter in Canvas.
Use a clear PNG, JPG, or WebP. Straight-on scans or photos with strong contrast usually give the easiest result to evaluate.
Call out room labels, entrances, fixed walls, stairs, windows, or any area that the conversion should not reinterpret.
Review the AI output beside your source, open it in Canvas, and draw the corrections needed for the next discussion.
Questions, answered
Clear, high-contrast sketches photographed or scanned from above work best. Mark room names and keep important walls visible.
Yes. You can use an old listing plan, scan, or screenshot as a reference, provided you have the right to use that image.
No. The beta does not guarantee survey-grade geometry or exact dimensions. Use it for concept planning and verify measurements separately.
The Canvas beta exports SVG and saves editable project JSON. PNG and PDF export are planned as the product matures.
